The Delta State House of Assembly has ushered in the Christmas season with its annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, held at the Assembly Chapel. The event featured hymns, scripture readings, worship, and heartfelt thanksgiving, drawing members of the Legislature, government officials, and distinguished guests.
Pastor Tony Kennedy, the guest preacher, delivered an inspiring exhortation on the profound benefits of Salvation. He emphasized that through Salvation, believers escape the wrath of God, walk in dominion, enjoy divine health, receive supernatural blessings, and experience enduring peace from above.
The ceremony began with the reading of the lessons. The Speaker of the House, the Right Honourable Emomotimi Guwor, was represented by the Deputy Speaker, the Right Honourable Arthur Akpowhowo, who read the first lesson. The second lesson was delivered by the Leader of the House, Honourable Emmanuel Nwaobi.
The service was further enriched by soul-stirring renditions from the Immigration Choir and the Delta State House of Assembly Mass Choir, creating an atmosphere of worship and celebration.
Highlights of the event included the traditional cutting of the Christmas cake and a special session of thanksgiving by the State Legislature, supported by Assembly staff and members of the House of Assembly Service Commission.
Top government functionaries, members of the State Executive Council, and other dignitaries were in attendance, joining the House in celebrating the season of goodwill and reflection. NIM
