Oborevwori Strengthens Delta NUJ Partnership with 18-Seater Bus

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has strengthened his administration’s partnership with the media with the presentation of a brand-new 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council.

The vehicle, presented to the NUJ Chairman, Churchill Oyowe, in Asaba by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, is expected to improve the union’s mobility and support journalists covering assignments across the state.

Speaking during the presentation, Ahon said the intervention reflected the administration’s recognition of the media as an important partner in public enlightenment, accountability and development.

He said the bus was provided for the use of the union and journalists across Delta State, particularly in facilitating movement for professional assignments.

“On behalf of His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, I have the honour of presenting this brand-new bus to the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Delta State Council, for the use of the union and journalists across the state,” Ahon said.

He expressed optimism that the gesture would strengthen the relationship between the government and the NUJ and encourage further collaboration in the interest of the state.

Receiving the vehicle, Oyowe thanked the governor, describing the intervention as a practical demonstration of his administration’s support for the media.

The NUJ chairman said the bus would enhance journalists’ ability to carry out their professional responsibilities, particularly when covering events and activities across the state.

Oyowe also acknowledged the contributions of Ahon, the Secretary to the State Government, Kingsley Emu, and the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, towards the provision of the vehicle.

He further commended the governor for the ongoing provision of solar power at the NUJ Secretariat in Asaba.

The NUJ leadership assured the governor of its appreciation for the support while urging him to sustain his development agenda and collaboration with the media.

The latest intervention adds to the existing relationship between the Oborevwori administration and the Delta media community, with both sides stressing the importance of effective communication, transparency and professional reporting in advancing development across the state.
