December 2, 2025 – Lagos, Nigeria
The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced plans to formally approve an official Flag Football Federation for Nigeria, with elections for the federation’s executive members set to follow immediately after its inauguration.
The Commission clarified that no association—national or international—currently holds official recognition to represent Nigeria in international flag football competitions. Only the NSC is legally empowered to recognize, approve, and regulate sports federations in the country.
The NSC is engaging all stakeholders in flag football to finalize a unified national federation. According to the Director-General, the process will prioritize transparency, inclusiveness, and alignment with international best practices to ensure proper representation of Nigeria in global competitions.
Further details on the election timetable, membership requirements, and transitional arrangements will be released in the coming days.
