Senator (Prince) Ned Munir Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the creation of Anioma State during the Zonal Public Hearing on Constitutional Amendments held in Ikot Ekpene.
Addressing stakeholders and delegates at the hearing, Senator Nwoko described the call for Anioma State as a long-overdue step towards ensuring equity, justice, and balanced representation within Nigeria’s federal structure.
“The demand for Anioma State is not just a regional aspiration; it is a national call for structural fairness,” the Senator stated. “Our people have contributed immensely to the unity, progress, and stability of Nigeria. It is only just that Anioma is duly recognized and included in the constitutionally recognized structure of our federation.”
He emphasized that the absence of Anioma from the list of states within the South-East geopolitical zone continues to reflect an imbalance that must be corrected through constitutional means. According to him, the establishment of Anioma State would not only bring administrative and political inclusion to the Anioma people but also strengthen national cohesion.
“I remain resolute in this advocacy and will continue to champion the creation of Anioma State until it becomes a reality,” Senator Nwoko said.
The Zonal Public Hearing is part of the National Assembly’s ongoing effort to review the 1999 Constitution and address long-standing demands for structural reforms, state creation, and inclusive governance across the country.
Senator Nwoko has been a vocal advocate for constitutional restructuring and remains one of the leading voices pushing for the reconfiguration of Nigeria’s internal boundaries to reflect contemporary realities and historical justice.
