Air Peace Flights Disrupted as Labour Action Blocks Lagos, Abuja Terminals

Air Peace has warned of temporary disruptions to its flight operations after industrial action by labour unions resulted in the barricading of terminal entrances at major airports in Lagos and Abuja.

The airline, in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, said the disruption followed the picketing of its operations and ongoing industrial action by members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

According to Air Peace, entrances to its departure terminals at Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal 1, comprising the Alpha and Zulu terminals, and Terminal 2 in Lagos, as well as the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport terminal in Abuja, have been barricaded.

The airline said the blockade has restricted access to the terminals, preventing scheduled flights from departing Lagos and Abuja. As a result, passengers scheduled to travel across the airline’s network have been significantly affected, with some passengers reportedly stranded amid the disruption.Air Peace apologised to affected passengers, describing the circumstances as beyond the airline’s control.

The airline said passengers scheduled to travel later on Tuesday were being contacted and provided with relevant updates as the situation develops. “Air Peace continues to closely monitor developments and will provide further updates as necessary,” the statement said.

The disruption comes amid ongoing industrial action by organised labour, with the impact extending to aviation operations and passenger movement.Air Peace is urging affected passengers to follow direct communication from the airline for updates concerning their flights.
