Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has received members of the Rainbow Coalition reconciliation committee at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The committee, backed by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, was led by Magnus Abe, Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
The visit comes amid renewed efforts to consolidate the political reconciliation between Governor Fubara and Wike following the end of their prolonged political dispute.
The Rainbow Coalition is a cross-party political alliance in Rivers State reportedly formed to bring politicians from different political platforms together in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The reconciliation committee was constituted following Wike’s declaration that the political differences between him and Fubara had been resolved, signalling a new phase in their relationship.
The meeting with Governor Fubara is expected to further strengthen the reconciliation process and foster greater political cooperation among the various interests involved in Rivers State politics.
The development could also have implications for the state’s political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly as major political actors continue to negotiate alliances and support structures.
