Goodluck Jonathan Commissions 18 New Roads in Bauchi

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has commissioned 18 newly completed township roads delivered by the Bauchi State Government under Governor Bala Mohammed.

The roads, covering approximately 49.7 kilometres across Bauchi metropolis, represent an investment of about ₦13.7 billion in the state’s road infrastructure.

Speaking during the commissioning, Jonathan commended Governor Bala Mohammed for investing in infrastructure capable of connecting communities, improving transportation and trade, expanding access to essential services and supporting economic activities across the state.

Governor Bala Mohammed said the projects are part of his administration’s broader infrastructure development programme, which targets approximately 5,000 kilometres of roads across Bauchi State.

According to the governor, about 3,000 kilometres of roads have been completed since he assumed office.

The newly commissioned roads include drainage systems, road markings, traffic signs and speed-calming measures. Some of the routes are also equipped with solar-powered streetlights to improve visibility and enhance security.

Governor Mohammed urged residents to protect the roads and drainage facilities from damage, describing the projects as valuable public assets belonging to the people.

The commissioning adds to ongoing infrastructure development efforts by the Bauchi State Government aimed at improving urban mobility and supporting economic growth.
