Working Fingers International Initiative, a non-governmental organization working to ensure a better society for Women and children, has advocated for more synergy and in the tackling inhumane practices against vulnerable persons in the society.
The Executive Director of the Working Fingers International Initiative, Ambassador Eris Jewo Ibi made the call when she led a delegation of women including widows on an advocacy visit to the Ministry of Justice, Delta State, as part of activities marking the 10th anniversary of the NGO and her 26years in social works.
Ambassador Abi affirmed the role of the Ministry in providing justice for survivors of gender based violence and other forms of abuse, noting that the advocacy visit was to strengthen partnership with the Ministry in the NGO’S avowed commitment to promote the rights and dignity gf women and children.
The Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Omamuzo Erebe, SAN, in his response commended the efforts of the Working Fingers International Initiative over the years, affirming that the fight against Gender Based Violence required sustained advocacy and institutional action.
He said the Ministry operated a “Zero Tolerance Policy’ on domestic violence, sexual offenses and all forms of oppression against women and girls, stating that existing laws provided protective mechanisms for victims, including anonymous and virtual testimonies to protect their dignity and safety during trials.
Meanwhile, the group also paid an Advocacy visit to the state Ministry of Women Affairs, where she called for increased support for women nd children.
Also speaking, the Founder and CEO of the Monu Olisa Foundation, and President of the Asaba Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mines and Agriculture, ASACCIMA Hon. Chinwe Monu Odoe urged women to break the culture of silence and stand up for their rights.
She commended the efforts of Ambassador Eris Jewo-Ibi for her consistency and focus and called on younger NGO’s and intending ones to build their passion for sustenance.
The event attended by the Vibrant Ladies Forum and the Vibrant Widows Forum, all under the Working Fingers Initiative, featured presentation of wrappers to the women, inauguration of new executives and cutting of the 10 years WOFII Anniversary cake
Some of women who spoke expressed gratitude to the WOFII for its relentless efforts at reaching out to them through various training, empowerment initiatives and urged her not to relent in her efforts.
