Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive development, saying the state’s “MORE” Agenda is focused on delivering tangible benefits at the grassroots level.
The Governor made the statement on Wednesday while commissioning multiple projects executed by the Ndokwa East Local Government Council. He was represented at the event by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D.
Governor Oborevwori praised the Chairman of Ndokwa East Local Government Council, Chief Vincent Osilonya, for what he described as prudent resource management and people-oriented governance. He said the projects on display reflected accountable leadership and effective collaboration between the state and local governments.
According to the Governor, the completed facilities—spanning infrastructure, education, health, security, and economic development—demonstrate how local governments can drive development when resources are properly managed. He noted that the new administrative buildings would improve service delivery, while the e-library in Ashaka would support learning in the digital age. The construction of new markets, he added, was already stimulating economic activities across the area.
The Governor also highlighted ongoing and planned road projects in the Ndokwa axis, including the Aboh–Akarai road, the completed Kwale–Beneku Bridge, and the proposed Emu-Ebendo–Emu-Iyasele–Ashaka road, scheduled to commence next year. He urged residents to remain peaceful and continue supporting the state government’s development efforts.
Oborevwori called on the people of Ndokwa East to take ownership of the commissioned projects, stressing the need to protect and maintain them for long-term community benefit. He assured the Ndokwa nation of continued government support and recognition of its contribution to the state and national economy.
Speaking at the event, Council Chairman Chief Vincent Osilonya said the projects were carefully selected based on the needs of the people and aimed at easing socio-economic challenges in the local government area.
Projects commissioned included the Oloa Ossissa Town Hall, a block of classrooms at Oloa Ossissa Primary School, the Ibrede Town Hall, the Ashaka E-Library, the Ndokwa East Local Government Council Annex in Ashaka, and the Chairman’s Quarters, among others.
The ceremony attracted top government officials and traditional rulers, including the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Kanemala Penewou; the Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Nze Ashibogwu; the Deputy Chief of Staff, Sir Christopher Osakwe; and His Imperial Majesty, Dr. Greg Oputa III, the Obi of Aboh.
