The Delta State Commissioner for Works, Rural Roads and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has commended staff of the Ministry of Information for the maturity and decorum displayed during the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ministry of Information Chapel election.
Speaking shortly after the exercise, Mr. Aniagwu praised the peaceful and orderly conduct of the poll, noting that the smooth process reflected the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to professionalism and democratic values.
Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Comrade Patrick Omagbemi, described the election as credible and well-organized. He attributed its success to the cooperation and sportsmanship demonstrated by both contestants and voters.
In the same vein, the State Chairman of NUJ Council, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, applauded the Information Chapel for upholding transparency, saying the exercise stood as a model for orderly electoral conduct within the union.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman, Comrade Enite Igere, expressed gratitude to the Ministry for ensuring a fair process and thanked members for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to promote unity, accountability and improved service delivery within the Chapel.
Other elected officers include Comrade Felix Evwhihore, who emerged Secretary; Stella Onyeobi, Treasurer; Comrade Ufiona Sekegor, Auditor; and Comrade Marian Kojolo, Financial Secretary — all of whom returned unopposed.
The election was widely described as peaceful, transparent and reflective of the Chapel’s commitment to strengthening journalistic integrity and teamwork.
