Delta’s IGR Growth Reflects Governor Oborevwori’s Vision, DSIRS’ Institutional Excellence — Oghenesivbe

The Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr (Barr.) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has commended Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for providing the visionary leadership and strategic policy direction that have culminated in the remarkable growth of Delta State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

He described the achievement as a clear reflection of the success of the Governor’s M.O.R.E. Agenda and his unwavering commitment to fiscal sustainability, economic diversification, and responsible public financial management.

Dr Oghenesivbe also commended the Executive Chairman of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service (DSIRS), Hon. (Chief) Solomon Ighrakpata, as well as the Board, management, and staff of the Service, for their exceptional professionalism, innovation, and dedication in implementing the Governor’s economic vision.

He noted that DSIRS commitment to institutional reforms, technology-driven revenue administration, enhanced taxpayer compliance, expansion of the tax net, and the elimination of revenue leakages has significantly strengthened the State’s fiscal capacity without imposing additional tax burdens on citizens.

The Bureau Director General said that the unprecedented increase in Delta State’s IGR from approximately ₦84 billion in 2023 to over ₦200 billion within a short period has upscaled economic growth and prosperity across the State, providing government with greater capacity to finance critical infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, security, industrial development, and other people-centred programmes.

He further observed that the commendation recently accorded Delta State by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) is a fitting recognition of the administration’s prudent fiscal policies and the outstanding performance of the DSIRS. According to him, the recognition affirms that Delta State is setting the pace in efficient domestic resource mobilisation, transparent revenue administration, and sustainable fiscal governance among sub-national governments in Nigeria.

Dr Oghenesivbe stated that the administration’s deliberate investments in productive sectors of the economy, including agriculture, industrial development, and public-private partnerships, are broadening the State’s economic base, stimulating investment, creating employment opportunities, and ensuring that the benefits of increased revenue translate into tangible improvements in the lives of Deltans.

He emphasized that the synergy between Governor Oborevwori’s visionary leadership and the institutional excellence demonstrated by the DSIRS under the leadership of Hon. (Chief) Solomon Ighrakpata has become a model of effective governance, proving that strong institutions and disciplined implementation remain the foundation of sustainable economic growth and inclusive development.

While congratulating Governor Oborevwori, Hon. (Chief) Solomon Ighrakpata, the Board, management, and staff of the DSIRS on the historic achievement, Dr Oghenesivbe urged taxpayers and other stakeholders to continue supporting the administration’s reform initiatives.

He expressed confidence that with sustained innovation, transparency, and prudent leadership, Delta State will further consolidate its position as one of Nigeria’s leading economies and a model of fiscal resilience, inclusive growth, and sustainable prosperity.
