Federal Government Deploys NIS Team to UK to Clear Nigerians’ Passport Backlog

The Federal Government has deployed a dedicated team of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to the United Kingdom to fast-track pending, new and renewal passport applications for Nigerians living in the country.

The intervention, directed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is being implemented in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom.

The NIS said the team will visit designated cities across the UK to conduct passport enrolment and address outstanding applications.

Applicants seeking to use the service are expected to have their completed passport application forms and proof of payment available during the enrolment exercise.

According to the Immigration Service, a detailed schedule indicating the cities, dates, venues and enrolment periods will be communicated through official government channels.

The NIS therefore advised Nigerians in the UK to wait for the official timetable before visiting any designated location, warning applicants to rely only on information published by the Nigerian High Commission, NIS and other authorised government platforms.

The initiative is part of efforts by the Federal Government to improve passport services and reduce delays experienced by Nigerians in the diaspora.
Nigerians in the UK with pending applications are encouraged to monitor official government updates for details of when the NIS team will visit their respective cities.
