The Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has commended the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, and members of the 8th Assembly for the prompt and decisive passage of the N1.7 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Oghenesivbe described the speed and efficiency with which the budget was passed as clear evidence of a focused, disciplined and development-driven legislature working in strategic alignment with the executive arm of government.
According to him, the Speaker Guwor-led Assembly has demonstrated uncommon maturity, patriotism and legislative competence, ensuring that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda remains firmly on course for accelerated development across Delta State’s three senatorial districts.
He noted that the sustained collaboration between the Executive and Legislature has strengthened governance delivery, improved policy execution and positioned Delta State as a model of political stability and results-oriented leadership.
Oghenesivbe stressed that democracy thrives when the three arms of government — Executive, Legislature and Judiciary — operate independently but in harmony, adding that Delta State currently enjoys that balance to the benefit of citizens across the 25 local government areas.
“The 8th Assembly has proven that separation of powers does not mean hostility. It means coordinated governance, mutual respect and collective commitment to the public good,” he said.
He assured Deltans that the Oborevwori administration will aggressively pursue economic expansion, massive road infrastructure development, the take-off of the state electricity project, improved healthcare delivery, enhanced education standards, expanded social welfare programmes and sustained support for small and medium-scale enterprises.
The Bureau Chief also lauded the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Mrs. Marilyn Okowa, and committee members for what he described as a thorough, transparent and professional budget review process.
“The timely passage of the 2026 Appropriation Bill underscores the Assembly’s seriousness, independence and effectiveness in legislative oversight, without unnecessary confrontations or political distractions,” Oghenesivbe stated.
He added that the Speaker and lawmakers have shown resilience, clarity of purpose and firm alignment with the governor’s socioeconomic blueprint, translating legislative action into tangible benefits for the people.
“Speaker Guwor and his colleagues have earned the respect and support of all well-meaning Deltans. Their performance confirms that Delta State is governed by leaders who place service above politics and development above personal interests,” Oghenesivbe concluded.
