The Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing service delivery for its enrollees as it commenced a week-long capacity-building training for senior staff of the Commission.
The training, which focuses on improving corporate performance processes, aligns with the provisions of the DSCHC law that mandate the development of the Commission’s permanent workforce.
Speaking during the opening session, DSCHC Consultant, Dr. S.O. Nwachukwu, explained that many of the senior staff were initially deployed from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to support the Commission’s early operations. He noted that the civil service work culture differs from the more corporate-driven system of the Commission, hence the need to reorient and strengthen the team.
Dr. Nwachukwu emphasized that the DSCHC had already developed a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manual and was now focused on equipping its senior staff to effectively apply these guidelines .
Earlier, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Comrade Bolum Martins Nwachukwu, stated that the Commission had matured significantly and was now standardizing its operations through well-documented systems and processes designed to stand the test of time.
He commended the Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, for his innovative leadership, noting that his contributions have positioned Delta State ahead of many others in health insurance service delivery. He urged the DG not to relent in sustaining the pace of progress.
Participants were taken through key areas of Transition Management, including corporate culture and attitude, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), job descriptions, and the application of SOP-driven job processes. The session also featured an interactive question-and-answer segment to address concerns and clarify grey areas.
The training continues through the week as DSCHC intensifies efforts to build a more efficient, corporate-oriented workforce dedicated to delivering quality healthcare services to Deltans.
