The Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has congratulated Chief (Barr.) Ese Gam Owe on securing a second term as President General of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU)—a re-election he says cements the union’s return to stability and cohesion.
In a goodwill message released Wednesday, Oghenesivbe praised Owe’s leadership for “restoring unity within the Urhobo nation” and ending years of internal factional disputes that had slowed the union’s progress. He credited Owe with ensuring greater transparency and accountability during his first tenure, describing the president general’s re-election as a mandate to consolidate on those gains.
Oghenesivbe also highlighted ongoing development efforts by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, noting that the administration has intensified infrastructure expansion and socioeconomic programs across the state—particularly within the Urhobo region. He urged the UPU leadership to align with these initiatives and work closely with stakeholders at home and in the diaspora.
According to Oghenesivbe, faster growth across Urhobo kingdoms is achievable if “well-endowed sons and daughters” deploy their expertise, influence, and resources toward collective progress. He cited the accomplishments of several Urhobos in public and private sectors as evidence of the community’s potential.
The communications chief concluded with prayers for sustained peace and unity in the Urhobo nation, wishing Owe and his executive council “good health, divine protection, and the wisdom to deliver on their responsibilities.”
