The Chief Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission, PCC, Honourable Bashir Abubakar MFR, has reiterated the commission’s determination to addressing social and administrative injustice.
He stated this while receiving ex Niger Delta Militants led by Mr Nathaniel Nicholas in his office in Abuja.
The visibly elated Chief Commissioner said he was proud of the ex militants for their transformation, noting that their academic accomplishment was a testament to the Commission’s vision and justice driven mandate.
He encouraged them to utilize their new-found skills and knowledge in contributing positively to the society, particularly in resolving disputes and promoting peace.
Honourable Bashir also urged them to live exemplary lives and inspire others to be good citizens
The ex militants were in the Commission to present their certificates having graduated with excellent grades from the University of Bedfordshire, United Kingdom
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Nicholas thanked the Chief Commissioner for the role of the Commission in their academic accomplishments, especially for the timely intervention which facilitated the approval of funds for their second degree programmes at the United Kingdom based University.
The ex militant leader recalled how the then President, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, through the Amnesty Programme Office approved an automatic scholarship for them, for a second degree in the UK, having completed their first degrees and graduated with first class, but were refused, until the Commission came to their aid.
Mr Nicholas said the Commission’s intervention led to a policy amendment within the presidential amnesty office which now allowed every first class graduates under the amnesty scholarship scheme to be sponsored automatically for a second degree.
