As preparations intensify for the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, the Delta State Police Command has unveiled a strengthened, multi-agency security framework aimed at ensuring a peaceful and incident-free festive period across the state.
The initiative includes the large-scale deployment of police personnel across strategic locations, as authorities move to reassure residents—particularly Muslim faithful—of adequate protection during and after the celebration scheduled for May 27 and 28, 2026.
According to the Command, the security operation is designed not only to provide visibility at Eid prayer grounds and public spaces but also to proactively deter criminal activity across highways, communities and recreational centres.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, , said the deployment reflects the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order during periods of heightened public movement and social gatherings.
Rather than adopting a reactive approach, the Command said it is prioritizing intelligence-led policing, including surveillance, patrols, stop-and-search operations where necessary, and coordinated raids on suspected criminal hideouts.
Security personnel drawn from Area Commands, tactical units, divisions and other operational formations have been mobilised as part of the expanded security architecture covering all parts of the state.
The Police Command also confirmed close collaboration with sister security agencies, including the Military, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in what officials describe as a unified effort to secure lives and property during the festivities.
Authorities warned criminal elements to stay away from the state, stressing that security agencies remain fully prepared to respond decisively to any threat to public peace.
At the same time, residents were urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to security authorities, reinforcing the role of community participation in maintaining safety.
The Command emphasized that the success of the operation depends not only on security deployment but also on public cooperation, noting that safety remains a shared responsibility between law enforcement and citizens.
With the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations approaching, the Command says its priority is to ensure that residents and visitors enjoy a peaceful, secure and uninterrupted festive period across Delta State.
