The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has presented cheques amounting to Thirty-seven million, six hundred and sixty-three thousand, nine hundred and thirty-six naira (₦37,663,936) to thirty-five families of police officers who lost their lives while on active duty.
The funds were disbursed under the IGP Family Welfare Scheme and Group Life Assurance Program, designed to provide financial support and alleviation to the bereaved families of fallen officers.
Speaking during the brief ceremony held at the Delta State Police Command headquarters in Asaba on 12 August 2025, CP Abaniwonda acknowledged the ultimate sacrifices made by the departed officers. He emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force and the nation at large recognize and appreciate their dedication and commitment.
“The IGP’s gesture reaffirms the Force’s unwavering commitment to supporting the families left behind. Though their loved ones are no longer with us, the Nigeria Police Force honors their sacrifices and ensures their families are not forgotten,” CP Abaniwonda remarked.
Miss Chidinma Paul, one of the beneficiaries, expressed profound gratitude to the IGP and the Police Command for the support. She assured that the financial assistance would be put to good use responsibly.
