Entertainment bodies in Oshimili North and South Local Government areas of Delta State have unveiled a new body tagged Entertainment Movement for Tinubu and Sheriff EMTAS
The movement was unveiled during an Entertainers/Stakeholders Town Hall Meeting, held on July 30, 2025, at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.
Organized by the Office of the senior special Assistant to the Governor on Entertainment in conjunction with all Heads of Entertainment Body in Oshimili South and Oshimili North, the event aimed to promote and develop the entertainment industry in Oshimili South and North, providing opportunities for local talent to thrive and contribute to the cultural and economic growth of the area.
Speaking at the event, the special Guest of Honor, and Governor of Delta State Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori called on entertainment bodies in the state to build a more united front and ensure inclusiveness, as that would increase their impact across the state and nation at large.
The Governor represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Government House Asaba, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza acknowledged the role of the entertainment body in shaping public opinion, promoting social change, and fostering citizen engagement.
He harped on the need for the various entertainment bodies to speak with one voice on issues affecting them, noting that the state Government, in line with the MORE agenda, would not relent in supporting groups and activities that enhance peace and development.
The Senior Special Assistant to the State Governor on Entertainment, Mr. Frank Otoide listed the Objectives of the event to include, Providing a platform for local entertainers to showcase their skills and talents, encouraging collaboration between entertainers, Industry professionals, and government agencies to drive innovation and progress.
Mr Otoide said the entertainment bodies decided to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for 2027, given their developmental strides and the Governor’s unflinching support to the entertainment industry.
He noted that the event would be extended to the three senatorial districts of the state
Other Government personalities who spoke including the Executive Assistant to the Governor, SSG Office, Sir Jossy Honnah and the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, Dr. Josephine Emu, noted that the various entertainment bodies served as a bridge between the government and the public, noting that through their activities they helped disseminate information, hold those in power accountable, and facilitate public participation in decision-making
The Participants drawn from the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, PMAN, DJAN, Printers Association, among others, expressed happiness at the event and urged the state government to do more to improve their welfare, in line with his MORE agenda.
The Public show of support and solidarity for President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori by different bodies across the country has been described by many as a sign of effective leadership. It is believed that the endorsements would translate into votes in the next presidential and Governorship election In the state.
