Leaders of the Kokori Ward 6 Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have paid a high-profile condolence visit to former member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sunny Akpodiogaga Emeyese, following the passing of his mother.
The late matriarch, Mrs. Agnes Imoniunu Emeyese (née Agofure), died at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy of community service, family cohesion, and moral leadership that continues to resonate across Kokori and beyond.
Leading the delegation, Caucus Leader, Chief James Omeru, described the deceased as “a rallying point for unity and a woman whose life embodied sacrifice, dignity, and uncommon service to humanity.”
He noted that her influence extended beyond her immediate family into the political and social fabric of the community.
In what observers interpret as a demonstration of grassroots political cohesion and loyalty, Chief Omeru assured the former lawmaker that the APC structure in Ward 6, in synergy with critical stakeholders, would play a central role in organizing a befitting burial ceremony.
He emphasized that the late Mrs. Emeyese was not only a mother to her biological children but “a mother to the entire Ward 6 and Kokori community at large.”
According to Omeru, the APC family recognizes the symbolic and unifying role Mama played in the community. Her passing, he said, is not just a loss to the Emeyese family but to the political and cultural identity of Kokori.
“We are committed to standing firmly with our political leader, Rt. Hon. Sunny Akpodiogaga Emeyese and his family, during this period,” Omeru added.
Chief Omeru further urged Rt. Hon. Emeyese to take solace in the fulfilled life his mother lived, highlighting her legacy of raising accomplished children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who continue to contribute meaningfully to society.
Responding, Rt. Hon. Emeyese expressed deep appreciation to the caucus for their show of solidarity and compassion.
He described the visit as both comforting and politically reassuring, noting that it reflects the enduring bond within the APC family in Kokori Ward 6.
He assured the delegation that details of the burial arrangements would be communicated after consultations with family members are concluded.
The delegation included prominent political figures such as former Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Council, Chief Faith Majemite; the Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr. (Barr.) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe; while the Life Patron of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide, Chief Capt. Anthony Onoharigho, was also present as an observer.
The visit underscores the intersection of tradition, community leadership, and political solidarity in APC Ward 6 Kokori, where moments of solace often double as platforms for reaffirming alliances and strengthening party unity.
