Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with head coach Thomas Frank after a turbulent eight months that has left the club dangerously close to the Premier League relegation zone.
The announcement came Wednesday, following a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United, which marked Spurs’ 11th league loss of the season.
“The club has taken the decision to make a change in the Men’s Head Coach position,” Tottenham said in a statement. “Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, and we thank him for his efforts and wish him every success in the future.”
Frank, 52, who was appointed in June 2025, struggled to lift Spurs from the shadow of last season’s turbulence under Ange Postecoglou. Despite a promising start that included six wins in 16 league games and reaching the Champions League round of 16, the team’s form deteriorated sharply. Spurs have won just two of their last 17 league matches and are currently sitting 16th, only five points above the drop zone.
The club’s decision follows mounting pressure from supporters, who directed chants at Frank during Tuesday’s match and called for the return of former manager Mauricio Pochettino. Off-field turmoil, including criticism of the club’s hierarchy by captain Cristian Romero, compounded the team’s struggles.
While a permanent replacement has yet to be announced, sources indicate an interim coach is likely. Tottenham chief executive Vinai Venkatesham is expected to address the media later Wednesday.
Frank becomes the first managerial casualty of the post-Daniel Levy era, with Spurs now facing a critical period to avoid a humiliating relegation battle.
