Ibori Commends Oborevwori’s Governance, Prays for Greater Achievements Beyond 2027

Former Delta State Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, on Thursday commended the governance style of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, describing his leadership as visionary and development-driven. The commendation came during a meeting at the Agbarha-Otor country home of the late business mogul, Olorogun Oskar Ibru, in Ughelli North Local Government Area.

Ibori, who appeared visibly delighted, rose to warmly receive Governor Oborevwori, a gesture political observers say underscores renewed unity among leaders of the Delta Central Senatorial District.

His remarks follow recent affirmations by key political stakeholders—including former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege—recognizing Governor Oborevwori as the political leader of Delta APC, further signaling a growing realignment within the state’s political landscape.

In a now-viral video from the event, Ibori offered prayers for Oborevwori, predicting continued electoral success and hinting at a potential senatorial future after the governor’s second term ends in May 2031. He praised Oborevwori for driving extensive infrastructure development and for fostering peace, unity, and progress across the state.

Reacting to the development, the Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Esq., described Ibori as a “father-figure” in Delta politics. He noted that Ibori’s recognition of Oborevwori’s performance, humility, and resilience serves as a strong endorsement of the governor’s leadership credentials.

Oghenesivbe urged political leaders in Delta Central to maintain unity as the state approaches another election cycle, emphasizing the significance of Urhobo solidarity in Delta’s political configuration.

“Chief James Ibori remains a father-figure in Delta’s political landscape,” he said. “It is important for leaders of Delta Central Senatorial District to work together as we move toward another electioneering season. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is providing the required leadership for development, peace, and progress across Delta Central, Delta North, and Delta South.”

He expressed confidence that the renewed cordiality among Delta political leaders will translate into greater achievements for the state, adding that Ibori’s endorsement completes the circle of support needed to secure victory for both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori in 2027.

Oghenesivbe affirmed the readiness of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State for the 2027 elections, assuring that the party is poised to win across all 25 local government areas.

Chief Ibori’s public goodwill and supportive remarks mark a significant shift in Delta’s political dynamics, strengthening Oborevwori’s footing as he advances the MORE Agenda and pursues accelerated development for the state.
