The Delta State Football Association DFA, has paid a condolence visit to the family of the Captain of the Super Eagles, Wilfred Ndidi, who died on January 27 after being hit by a car along the Benin-Asaba expressway on the Umunede axis.
The DFA Chairman, Chief Godwin Adode who led the delegation, said the sudden death of retired Sergeant Joseph Ndidi came as a rude shock to the Nigerian football family as they were still celebrating the Super Eagles bronze medal feat at the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations which held in Morocco.
Chief Adode who spoke on behalf of the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr. Onoriode Oborevwori, however enjoined the Ndidi family to see the demise of retired Sergeant Joseph Ndidi as a call to strengthen the bond in the family, saying he was known to be a unifier and urged them to carry on with his legacies, while praying GOD to give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The DFA Chairman assured the family of its support during this trying times, stressing that they were not alone as the National Sports Commission, the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, the Delta State Sports Commission and the football family would continue to visit them to ensure that the deceased is given a befitting burial.
Chief JC Okonye who spoke on behalf of the family thanked the DFA for the visit and assured the family that the body would be carried along during the burial ceremony of their brother while promising to continue with the legacies of their late brother, retired Sergeant Joseph Ndidi.
