“Everything Rises and Falls on Leadership” — AHQ Garrison Commander Calls for Strategic Repositioning of Nigerian Army Women Command

The Commander of the Army Headquarters (AHQ) Garrison, Major General Maxwell Dangana, has urged the Nigerian Army Women Command (NAWC) to drive innovation, professionalism, and enhanced operational effectiveness, declaring that “everything rises and falls on leadership.”

Major General Dangana made the remarks on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, while receiving the Commander of NAWC, Brigadier General Mohammed Adamu, during a courtesy visit at the AHQ Garrison Conference Room, Mogadishu Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja.

Congratulating Brigadier General Adamu on his appointment, Dangana described the Women Command as a “delicate yet strategically significant formation” whose success hinges on strong, visionary leadership. He emphasized that the discipline, values, and professional disposition of its leadership directly shape the culture, identity, and operational output of the command.

Expressing confidence in Brigadier General Adamu’s ability to strengthen the Women Command’s visibility and operational capabilities, Dangana reaffirmed institutional support and encouraged greater participation in training programs at the Garrison Training School, including Basic Battle Courses and other capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing combat proficiency.

Brigadier General Adamu said the visit was purposeful rather than ceremonial, designed to formally integrate the Women Command within the AHQ framework and reinforce professional collaboration. He highlighted the Nigerian Army’s commitment to gender mainstreaming and inclusivity, noting that personnel of the Women Command are actively involved in both combat and non-combat operations across the country.

He further stressed their adaptability, resilience, and readiness to confront contemporary security challenges, underscoring the unit’s critical role in national internal security operations.

The meeting concluded with the signing of the visitors’ book, exchange of souvenirs, and group photographs, marking a renewed commitment to operational excellence and strategic repositioning within the Nigerian Army’s Women Command.
