Nelson Egware has been elected chairman of the Asaba branch of the Emevor Progress Union (EPU), emerging unopposed during the group’s April monthly meeting in Asaba, Delta State.
Egware, who serves as Executive Assistant to the Delta State governor on media, was elected alongside other members of the new executive committee. Joseph Awoh was named vice chairman, while Simeon Ebewore and Doris Ogheneruemu were elected secretary and assistant secretary, respectively.
Also elected were Chris-Mark Erukaye as financial secretary and Beatrice Agboro, who was returned as treasurer. Oghoghome Ukpedor emerged as publicity secretary, while Awoh Lucky and Samson Adaighofua were elected provosts.
Egware succeeds Sunny Ekakitie, who led the branch for more than three years.
In his handover remarks, Ekakitie thanked members for their support, saying the union recorded notable progress during his tenure. He urged the new leadership to build on that foundation by promoting unity, peace and development within the Emevor community.
In his acceptance speech, Egware expressed appreciation for the trust placed in him and pledged to serve with commitment. He called on members to support the new executive in achieving its objectives.
He also encouraged Emevor indigenes living in Asaba and surrounding areas to participate actively in union activities, noting that meetings are held every third Sunday of the month.
