The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has advised members of the public to remain vigilant against flash flooding and local disruptions due to thunderstorms and moderate rainfall.
NiMet gave the advice in a weather outlook for Monday, 30th June 2025, posted on its social media page.
For the Northern States, the agency predicted Sunny skies with patches of cloud in the Morning hours, while Thunderstorms (with or without rain) are likely in parts of Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Taraba, Adamawa, and Kaduna.
In the Afternoon/Evening periods, it states that thunderstorms with rain are expected in Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Jigawa, Yobe, Kano, Katsina, Gombe, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Kaduna.
For the Central States, Sunny intervals with patches of cloud were predicted for the morning hours, while Thunderstorms with rain are expected in Niger, Plateau, and the FCT.
During the Afternoon/Evening, Isolated thunderstorms (with or without rain) are anticipated in Plateau, FCT, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Niger states.
Those in the Southern States are to expect Cloudy skies with light rain in parts of Ogun, Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom in the morning, while Isolated thunderstorms with light rain are likely in Ogun, Lagos, Ondo, Oyo, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Edo, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom, in the Afternoon/Evening hours.
The Agency advised motorists to avoid driving in heavy rains to prevent accident, while also warning against sheltering under trees during storms to avoid risk of falling branches
It also advised airlines to get airport-specific weather reports and flight info from NiMet for safe planning.
