The Delta State Contributory Health Commission has honoured one of its founding staff members and Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Martins Bolum, following his retirement from active service upon attaining the mandatory age of 60.
The surprise celebration, organised in collaboration with labour leaders, held at the Commission’s headquarters in Asaba, in recognition of Mr. Bolum’s years of dedication, professionalism and commitment to the growth of the state’s health insurance scheme and the labour movement.
Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the Commission described Mr. Bolum as a loyal, dependable and diligent officer whose wealth of experience significantly strengthened the institutional development and operational stability of the agency. The DG noted that his unwavering belief in the Commission’s mandate of providing accessible and affordable healthcare to residents of Delta State laid a solid foundation for the scheme’s sustained growth.
The Chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, Delta State Branch, Ogbueshi Henry Okafor, commended Mr. Bolum’s leadership and contributions to the union, describing him as a principled and disciplined administrator.
Other speakers, including his wife, Mrs. Scholastica Bolum, and the Vice Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government, also paid glowing tributes, highlighting his mentorship, calm disposition and team spirit. They described him as a stabilising presence and a reliable source of guidance within the Commission.
In his response, Mr. Bolum expressed gratitude to the leadership and staff for the honour and opportunity to serve, urging workers and labour leaders to remain steadfast in their commitment to excellence and public service.
The event featured the presentation of gifts and photo sessions in celebration of his meritorious service.
Mr. Bolum is the National Auditor and immediate past Chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria.
