The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, has commended the Commission’s staff for their dedication and unity of purpose, praising their commitment to the organisation’s goals.
He made the remarks during a surprise birthday celebration organised in his honour at the Commission’s headquarters in Asaba.
Dr. Akpoveta, who has served at the Commission for 12 years, said the celebration, the first of its kind during his tenure, reflects the unity and dedication of the Commission’s staff, which he said is central to the organisation’s progress and achievements.
He praised both senior and junior staff for their commitment, diligence, and teamwork, noting that the Commission has gained recognition both locally and internationally for its contributions to quality and affordable healthcare in line with the MORE agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The DG further announced that the anniversary of the Commission will henceforth be marked, with invitations extended to former staff to join in the festivities.
Speaking on behalf of staff, Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Bolum Nwachukwu, said the surprise birthday was organised to honour Dr. Akpoveta for his mentorship, progressive vision, and dedication to excellence.
He described the DG as a father figure to all staff, a team player, and a leader with a penchant for excellence, pledging continued support for his efforts to reposition the Commission.
The event featured the cutting of a birthday cake by Dr. Akpoveta, flanked by staff, a special performance by a guest saxophonist, and the singing of the birthday song by staff members, creating a festive and memorable atmosphere.
The celebration underscores the strong staff cohesion and positive organisational culture at the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, which leaders say are key to sustaining its mission of delivering accessible healthcare to all residents of Delta State. NIM
