The says it has intercepted over 4,000 units of improperly declared pharmaceutical products at the Port Harcourt International Airport.
The seizure was made by the Port Harcourt Area I Command at the NAHCO Shed in Omagwa, with the items subsequently handed over to the .
Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku, told journalists that the interception followed routine cargo examination and intelligence-driven scrutiny by officers of the Command in collaboration with other relevant agencies.
She disclosed that the products were found in two separate consignments and were neither properly declared nor accompanied by the mandatory NAFDAC certification required for lawful importation.
The items include Menotrophin 150 IU injections, Progesterone, Isifrane, and Tramadol Ratiopharm injections.
Comptroller Atuluku described the attempted importation as a deliberate misdeclaration and reaffirmed Customs’ commitment to preventing unregulated and potentially harmful pharmaceutical products from entering the Nigerian market.
She added that the action aligns with the enforcement and collaboration drive of the Comptroller-General of Customs, .
Receiving the items, NAFDAC’s Deputy Director of Port Inspection Directorate, Pharm. Adepoju Raufu, commended Customs for the interception and assured that the products would undergo necessary regulatory procedures in the interest of public health.
