The Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Area, Honourable Innocent Esewezie, has reaffirmed the council’s commitment to deepening collaboration with security agencies to enhance peace and safety across the local government.
Honourable Esewezie made this known while receiving the new Garrison Commander of the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier U. Tanimu, during a courtesy visit at the Council Liaison Office in Ibusa.
He congratulated Brigadier Tanimu on his appointment and emphasized the importance of sustained synergy between the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, and traditional institutions in addressing emerging security challenges. According to him, Ibusa and Okpanam communities, as key components of the state capital territory, require consistent, professional, and proactive security presence to safeguard lives and property.
Earlier in his remarks, Brigadier Tanimu expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him by the council chairman and his team. He commended the existing cordial relationship between the military and Oshimili North Local Government, describing the area as strategically important within the state capital territory.
The Brigade Commander stressed the need for continuous cooperation among the military, civil authorities, and host communities as a foundation for lasting peace and security.
Both leaders assured residents of a mutually beneficial working relationship focused on strengthening security, promoting social stability, and supporting sustainable development across Oshimili North Local Government Area.
Dignitaries present at the meeting included the Secretary to the Local Government, Comrade Austin Eloka Ajufo; the Uwolo of Ibusa, Chief Amaechi Nwaenie; and other key stakeholders.
