DSCHC Trains Management Staff on Delta State New Tax Law

The Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC) has organised a capacity-building programme for its key management staff on the implementation of the Delta State New Tax Law as part of efforts to strengthen tax compliance, enhance financial accountability and improve institutional efficiency.
The training equipped participants with practical knowledge of the provisions of the new tax law and their obligations in ensuring compliance in the discharge of their official responsibilities.

Speaking at the training, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Miss Mary , said the programme was designed to provide management staff with a deeper understanding of the law to ensure its effective implementation across the Commission.
According to her, the knowledge acquired will enable officers responsible for financial and administrative functions to align their duties with global best practices in tax administration and public financial management.
She added that the training reflects the commitment of the Director-General of the Commission to continuous staff development through regular capacity-building initiatives, noting that the effort is in line with the MORE Agenda of Governor .
Resource person and Head of Business Audit, Nigeria Revenue Service, Mr. Isowede Alloy, urged participants to approach the new tax regime with diligence and professionalism, stressing that a sound understanding of the law is critical to promoting transparency, strengthening compliance and preventing revenue leakages.


He led participants through key provisions of the law, including the tax obligations of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), the responsibilities of MDAs as tax agents, taxpayers’ rights, compliance and enforcement mechanisms, as well as challenges associated with tax administration and collection.
Participants commended the Director-General for sustaining a culture of continuous learning within the Commission through regular training and retraining programmes.

They described the workshop as timely and impactful, expressing confidence that the knowledge gained would improve compliance with the new tax law, strengthen financial management and enhance service delivery in the Commission.
