The Delta State Government has suspended the Commissioner for Works, Highway and Urban Roads, Hon. Reuben Izeze, indefinitely with immediate effect.
The suspension was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu, in a statement on Monday.
According to the statement, the decision is to allow security agencies conduct an unbiased investigation into allegations linking the commissioner to the reported assault of the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, Mr. Simon Mudi, popularly known as Temple, at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun.
The state government said the suspension was necessary to ensure that the investigation is conducted without interference and in accordance with due process.
It stressed that the decision reflects its commitment to maintaining public safety, law and order, as well as protecting the sanctity of human lives.
The government further stated that it would uphold these principles in all circumstances, including when allegations involve government officials or institutions.
The statement did not indicate how long the suspension would last, saying only that it would remain in effect indefinitely pending the outcome of the investigation.
